Artist Statement:
I am a Midwestern place-based artist and collaborator devoted to meaning making in the human/nature interface. My creative practice has included many mediums – piano playing, writing, land stewardship, and ceramics – in part due to my proclivity to dabble and also as necessary adaptation to my bodily limits. I am interested in the ways people interact with land and each other, and I seek to invite public participation in witnessing and exploring nature. My work is influenced by typography, absurdism, travel, and somatic meditation practice.
Significant past works include visioning, leading and documenting the farm project “Mad About Saffron (2018-2020)”, performing in “The Symphonic Body / Food by Ann Carlson (2019)”, and editing and publishing the zine “Food for Thought (2021)”. My current projects are The Meanders, a prairie installation, and free*hand*salon, a virtual creative conversation.
